Richard "Black Bart" Harris 1948 - 2025

On January 9, 2025, the wrestling world lost a legend. Richard "Black Bart" Harris passed away after a courageous battle with colon cancer. His passing marks the end of a storied chapter in professional wrestling, but his legacy of grit, resilience, and passion will live on in the hearts of fans and fellow wrestlers alike.


In 2024, Black Bart was honored with the Courage Award at the 58th Annual Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion. The Courage Award is presented to individuals in the wrestling community who have faced incredible challenges with unwavering strength and grace. Black Bart exemplified everything the award represents. Despite his diagnosis, he remained steadfast and embodied the spirit of a fighter, inspiring everyone who crossed his path.

Black Bart's wrestling career is one for the history books. Known for his larger-than-life persona, booming voice, and imposing presence, Bart was a true old-school cowboy who entertained fans around the world. His rivalries were intense, his promos unforgettable, and his performances in the ring captured the essence of what it means to be a professional wrestler. From his time as a territorial standout to his national television appearances, Black Bart brought authenticity and toughness to every arena he entered.


Beyond his in-ring accolades, Bart was known for his generosity, kindness, and willingness to mentor the next generation of wrestlers. He was beloved not just for his accomplishments, but for the man he was behind the curtain—a friend, a mentor, and a champion of the wrestling brotherhood.


The Cauliflower Alley Club extends its deepest condolences to Black Bart's family, friends, and fans. We mourn the loss of a beloved member of our wrestling family, but we also celebrate the life of a man who faced every challenge with courage and left an unforgettable mark on the world.
