This August at the 59th Annual Cauliflower Alley Club Reunion, we’re proud to present the Karl Lauer Independent Promoter Award to Herb Simmons.

For over 50 years, Herb has been a steady presence in professional wrestling, promoting events across the Midwest and helping keep the tradition of independent wrestling alive. As the force behind Southern Illinois Championship Wrestling (SICW), he’s built a platform that blends old-school values with new-school talent—booking legends, supporting local stars, and never losing sight of what makes this business special.

Herb’s commitment to the sport, its history, and the community that surrounds it makes him a true standout—and a perfect recipient of an award named after Karl Lauer.
