Virtually every big name in wrestling in the second half of the 20th Century crossed paths with “Ms. Christine,” as she was known to most. If they followed her rules, Christine “Teeny” Jarrett probably taught them a thing or two about staying out of trouble and saving money for a rainy day. If they got out of line, they likely faced The Grip.
Over the course of her 50-year career in wrestling, Teeny worked her way from selling tickets in the back of a Nashville, Tennessee shoe store to running a network of towns for Nick Gulas and Roy Welch to owning one of the most successful territories in the business with her son Jerry Jarrett - until they lost it all to “that so-and-so” Vince McMahon!
The above blurb, including the rules, are the blurb on the back of the wonderfully written "historical novel" by Brennon Martin detailing the life of his grandmother Christine "Teeny" Jarrett.
This year, as part of it's Memphis Mania celebration at the 2022 Cauliflower Alley Club reunion the CAC is please to present this historical talk about the origins of Memphis wrestling and the woman who was the matriarch of it all. Featuring Brennon and some of the biggest names in Memphis wrestling history, such as Christine's son, promoter Jerry Jarrett and wrestling superstar, CAC Presidents Award winner Jerry "The King" Lawler (along with a plethora of "surprise" guests) this Learning Series event will be a must attend for 2022 reunion attendees.
In a world, traditionally dominated by men, a case could certainly be made that the 'so-called' evolution of female wrestling started with Christine Jarrett more than 50 years ago. Her influence, the foundation that she helped build and, as exemplified by the roster of presenters on this panel, her lessons taught continue to play a large role in the world of professional wrestling today.
The CAC welcomes all 2022 reunion attendees to "Teeny" Professional Wrestling's Grand Dame! As a reminder, as with all of our Learning Series events, audio and/or video recording is strictly prohibited without the expressed written consent of the Cauliflower Alley Club and Learning Series attendees must have their reunion lanyards clearly on display while in the seminar room.
