New CAC Lifetime Member and the man the world is always watching, Dwayne Johnson has his latest TV show set to debut February 16th on U.S. major network NBC. NBC also owns the streaming Peacock+ Network that will add WWE's own extensive Network video content to it's programming next month as this website reported.
Young Rock follows Dwayne's other weekly TV shows in Ballers(HBO) that ended a long, successful run as a scripted dramatic series, and his reality competition show The Titan Games continues on NBC since 2019. Young Rock highlights Dwayne's childhood growing up with famous wrestling and boxing dad Rocky Johnson and wife Ata Maivia-Johnson(the daughter of another wrestling legend in High Chief Peter Maivia who first came to stardom working for CAC Honoree Ed Francis' 60's and 70's Honolulu wrestling office then skyrocking in San Francisco for promoter CAC Honoree Roy Shire. 10 year old Adrian Groulx capably plays Rock as a kid with other great actors portraying(and eerily resembling) Rock's family along with the wrestled in his life like Andre, Iron Sheik Kosrow Vaziri and hopefully others like Jerry Lawler(although Jerry could play himself again as he did in the Andy Kaufman great film Man On The Moon. Who could play Fred Blassie, Lou Albano plus Rocky's promoters in Nick Gulus, Jerry Jarrett or even Vince McMahon Sr and Jr who were both CAC Honorees in 1998 at our third New York function?!
It looks like a can't miss from the two reviewed episodes. Not just for those of us who love the biz but also the general public who loves Dwayne maybe not as The Rock, but as the talented actor. He's still the highest-grossing actor in entertainment. He'll be narrating the show just as Chris Rock did in Everybody Hates Chris which he said was "surreal." Way to go champ! We give it 5 stars.
