Rob Schamberger profiled by Forbes

Chris Smith of just posted a profile on Rob Schamberger. It is an amazing achievement being recognized by such a high-profile and respected mainstream media outlet.

Here is an excerpt of the article:

Rob Schamberger still runs his own personal store, but he says about 80% of his business is now done through WWE channels. WWE buys the art upfront and then sells it through its online storefronts; prints are sold on the company’s online store while original signed portraits are available on its auction site. Unlike WWE’s wrestler booking contracts, in which performers typically receive a cut of product sale profits, Schamberger’s royalties are included in his up-front payout.

Schamberger speaks glowingly of his relationship with WWE, and it’s been a prosperous one thus far, with Schamberger’s total business closing in on six figures annually. The wrestling promotion seems just as happy with the partnership. “Rob Schamberger is an extremely talented artist whose work has enabled WWE to pursue a new product category,” says Kevin Moore, WWE’s senior vice president of E-commerce and venue merchandise, “WWE fans have responded very positively to his work and we look forward to continuing our partnership with him.”

The latest product of their partnership is an art book that features over 30 of Schamberger’s paintings; the introduction was written by Ross. As for what’s next, Schamberger notes he’s looking forward to catching up on some much-needed rest. Beyond that he does a weekly painting for WWE’s “Canvas 2 Canvas” YouTube series, and this week will be in Las Vegas doing a live painting of Mr. Perfect, whose father Larry “The Axe” Hennig is being honored at the Cauliflower Alley Club’s annual reunion.
