ARDA OCAL: NEW M.C. AT THE BALONEY BLOWOUT
If it’s true that the Master of Ceremonies is instrumental in setting the tone for the evening, then it’s guaranteed that this year’s Baloney Blowout will be upbeat and fun.
The ever-popular and less formal blowout on Tuesday night of the reunion will be hosted for the first time by Arda Ocal, a TV personality and announcer with The Score network in Canada, the Canadian home of WWE’s Raw and Smackdown. Arda hosts “Aftermath TV” immediately following the Raw re-broadcast on Tuesday afternoon, and shares the microphone with long-time WWE referee Jim Korderos on “Aftermath Radio”, right behind the primary Monday evening telecast.
He’s no stranger to sports of all sorts, having handled the mic for telecasts of MMA, boxing, hockey, baseball, soccer and football. On top of his duties with The Score, Arda is also a sports reporter with Canada’s Global TV. He’s interviewed wrestling personalities the calibre of Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Jerry Lawler, Sgt. Slaughter and many more on his shows, as well as UFC president Dana White and Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney.
Arda attended his first CAC reunion last year, and enjoyed himself immensely. “It’s all I expected it would be, and more,” he enthused following the final night. “The displays, the seminars, the evening feasts and the awards came together so well to make a memorable three days. Add in the great atmosphere of so many different people in the wrestling industry socializing together and, well, you can bet I’ll be back!”
We took Arda at his word, and prevailed on him to use his mic skills to handle podium duties at the Baloney Blowout this year, where a number of the annual awards will be handed out. He’s done a few similar events back home in Canada, and MC’d the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame induction banquet in Waterloo, Iowa in July 2012.
It’ll be the start of another great night at CAC when Arda Ocal takes the stage, and brings on the first honoree of the evening!
And as always, J.J. Dillon will be the Master Of Ceremonies at the Wednesday night festivities.
