Mildred Burke: “Queen Of The Ring”
Karl Lauer just finished reading the book “Queen of the Ring” the life story of Mildred Burke by CAC life member Jeff Leen. Jeff is no armature writer who just happened to write a book about the first and most famous lady wrestler, but a prize winning author who has worked on SIX Pulitzer prize winning articles. This book alone took over 5 years of research to get the facts and life of this fascinating lady correct. If you ever wondered what started the lady’s wrestling and who brought it to the worlds eye, you will want to read this TRUE and accurate biography.
He contacted many CAC members who knew Mildred, plus Joe Wolfe her 70 year old son for more facts and parts of her unpublished bio. This is not just great reading but so accurate that only a dedicated author would go to the extremes of the time and money to make it a book you will keep and reread and hold as a collectors item. Like reading a educational school book of your favorite subject.
The book is a hard cover and published by Atlantic Monthly press of New York and the release date is next Tuesday August 11th 2009. It will be available in all major book stores and if you buy a copy now, bring it to Vegas next April and the author Jeff Leen will be glad to sign it and make it a true collectors item. Plus there are 14 pages of photo’s most never seen before from the family collection.
Karl has read many of the books on wrestling but none have the research and the references where the facts came from. Karl believes because Jeff takes his work so serious, his daily job is that of a managing editor of the highly acclaimed Washington Post’s investigations unit.
