Cauliflower Alley Club scholarship awarded

The Ilio DiPaolo scholarship committee recently awarded scholarships to those students that excelled in both academic along with sports performance. The Cauliflower Alley Club is proud to offer a scholarship to a individual that excels in Academics and in sports. The CAC works closely (through CAC member Dick “The Destroyer” Beyer) with the Ilio DiPaolo family to provide a scholarship to a deserving individual.

Clayton Reeb 2009 CAC scholarship recipient

This years recipient, Clayton Reeb is a very outstanding student. Both in academics and on the wrestling mat.

Clayton, attended Cheektowaga Central High School in Cheektowaga, NY. maintaining a G.P.A. of 3.47. Claytons wrestling record as a senior is an amazing, 43-3 with a career record of 181- 41 (Ranks 1st at Cheektowaga Central). A two times Section VI Champion, placed 4th in NYS this year. A 3 times Class AAA Champion In 2007, Clayton finished in 4th place at the All-American at the NHSCAA Sophomore Nationals. A 4 time Captain of the Varsity team along with a 6 time letterman!

For the past 3 years, Clayton has volunteered over 80 hours with a youth wrestling program. Besides wrestling, Clayton played on both the JV and Varsity football team for the last 4 years. Both his sophomore and senior year played the position of quarterback.

In the letter of recommendation from his Varsity Wrestling Coach, Coach Matthew J. Haberl wrote, “I have been a coach for over 20 years and Clayton has been one of not only my top athletes that I have coached but one of my most respected athletes that I have coached. It gives me great pleasure as well as much deserved to write this recommendation for Clayton Reeb.”

In yet another letter of recommendation the Cheektowaga Central Athletic Director, Brian Hickson wrote, “As a Junior, Clay played an integral part of Cheektowaga’s best season in school history as we finished our first ever undefeated regular season, and made it to Ralph Wilson Stadium for the first time.”

Cheektowaga Police Department Detective, Joseph Bauman also wrote about Clayton, “Even with all the demands at school, from academics to sports, Clay still understands the meaning of work. He has worked part time at numerous jobs and has volunteered his time participating in many community service events. This shows the character of a student who not only leads by way of example in school but also in society.”

The Cauliflower Alley Club is proud to give this years scholarship award to Clayton Reeb. Clayton will be attending Oklahoma University.
