Brian Westcott contacted us
and said; Well,
I'm still debating as to how
I'm getting there, either
flying or
driving from Meridian,
Idaho.
I'm really looking forward
to meeting Verne Gagne,
since I wrote his
biographical profile. I
originally wrote that piece
for the Pro
Wrestling Hall of Fame
that's out of New York
state.
For 17 years now, I've been
watching, reading, writing,
interviewing,
etc. professional
wrestling. I'm still
surprised by all the
changes.
I'm also grateful to those
who paved the way for what
we enjoy today.
I'm hoping to see Les
Thatcher again and watch the
training sessions as
well as the showcase. That
was a blast last year!
I'm really excited about
coming to Las Vegas next
month!
Alfred Ticineto sent this
in; "Over
the weekend I watched the
web cast of the WWE Hall of
Fame inductions, and it
really had me longing for
the CAC reunion in June.
Seeing many of my fellow
fans, good friends, and, of
course, many of my heroes.
The WWE honorees this
weekend included Harley
Race and Verne Gagne, two of
the greatest workers this
business has ever seen.
It's a treat to watch the
wrestling tryouts, and
hearing Harley giving advice
and explaining the mechanics
of a match. I just close my
eyes and it's just like
hearing him on the wrestling
shows 25 years ago.
It will be my 4th reunion,
and by far the most special
for a very personal reason.
Bobby Shane is being honored
with a posthumous award, and
it is my honor and privilege
to accept the award for him
on behalf of his family. I
have spent the last ten
years striving to keep his
memory alive through
articles, a song that I
wrote and had recorded for
him, a website (thanks to
Morgan!), and a video
tribute taped and aired on
Tampa cable TV. Through out
my work, I have had many
unbelievable experiences,
made many great friends -
wrestlers like Bob Kelly and
Jack Brisco, former Florida
ring announce Bruce Tharpe,
fellow fans, and perhaps the
greatest blessing to me is
my now close friendship with
Bobby's family. In fact, his
uncle has become the best
friend I've ever had in my
life.
I've been a wrestling fan
for 30 years, and it really
does this old time fan's
heart a lot of good to see
the wrestlers at the
reunion. The camaraderie
they share is truly amazing
- it's like a fraternity.
Non-fans may never
understand, but we do. We
know that guys like Race,
Gagne, Shane, and all the
boys (and gals) who ever
stepped into that ring was
part of something truly
unique and special, and I
wish it were possible to
honor each and every one of
them. They will always be
our heroes. May God bless
them all!"
Alex C from Belgium stated;
"I'm looking forward to
another exciting year with
the CAC. Everyone knows how
much I like it! That's the
reason I travel 18 hours by
plane."
